Renovation of the Traditional Polirizos Restaurant
About the project
This project focuses on the renovation of an existing dental practice and its transformation into a contemporary dental clinic capable of supporting a larger number of practitioners and a more demanding daily operation. The design prioritises functionality and strict compliance with healthcare regulations, while also creating a calm and welcoming environment for patients.
The Challenge
The main challenge lay in meeting all regulatory and operational requirements within a limited floor area. The clinic needed to accommodate multiple dental chairs, specialised medical spaces, and complex technical infrastructure, while maintaining clear circulation and an efficient workflow.
At the same time, the design had to move away from the image of a cold, clinical environment and instead offer a light, reassuring experience for patients, reducing stress and enhancing comfort from the moment they enter the space.
Our Approach
The renovation aimed to increase the number of dental treatment units and reorganise the clinic into clearly defined functional zones. The layout now includes:
- waiting areas,
- dental treatment rooms,
- a CT scanning room,
- bathrooms,
- sterilisation and clean/dirty zones,
- and a multi-purpose staff area that combines a kitchen, library, and meeting table.
The design relies on a combination of white surfaces and natural wood, with wood elements carefully integrated into the predominantly white clinical spaces to introduce warmth and balance.
The project places particular emphasis on the design of the suspended ceilings and the use of glass partitions, which allow light and visual continuity throughout the clinic. This approach creates a continuous, open spatial experience with clear, circular circulation that supports both staff efficiency and patient orientation.
The Result
The renovation transforms the original dental practice into a next-generation dental clinic where functionality, regulatory compliance, and spatial quality work together seamlessly. The new layout supports the clinic’s expanded medical needs, while the calm atmosphere improves both the patient experience and the daily working conditions of the dental team.
