OUR PROJECTS
Family Apartment Renovation in Heraklion
About the project
For this family apartment renovation in the centre of Heraklion, we were asked to redesign a 120 sq.m residence so it could fully meet the needs of a modern four-member family, without sacrificing the warmth and practicality of everyday living.
Our design approach focused on clean lines, earthy tones and a warm material palette that flows seamlessly throughout the home.
The Challenge
The family’s need for practical, functional and aesthetically refined living spaces, along with the requirement for thorough energy upgrading, formed the core design challenge.
The apartment is organised in an open-plan layout with three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a dedicated office area, a storage room and generous balconies.
Our primary goal was to create a flexible and bright home, where every space can serve multiple functions and adapt to daily life.

Our Approach
Aesthetic Direction & Materials
The material palette was curated to create a contemporary yet welcoming atmosphere, using durable, high-quality finishes with long-term value.
- Floors & surfaces: large-format Italian ceramic tiles for a unified, refined appearance.
- Wood: applied on furniture, wardrobes and detailing, adding warmth and architectural depth.
- Granite: used on kitchen and bathroom countertops for its durability and visual weight.
- Lighting: a balanced composition of concealed LED strips, linear fixtures and pendant lights to create soft shadows, depth and a sculpted interior ambience.
Kitchen
The kitchen was designed as a fully functional core of the home.
Full-height cabinets maximise storage, while black granite countertops and backsplash introduce a sense of solidity.
A vertical wood-panelled wall behind the extractor adds warmth and texture to the composition.
The U-shaped layout ensures ergonomic movement and excellent functionality in daily use.
Bedrooms
Each bedroom was designed to evoke calmness and clarity.
Floor-to-ceiling sliding wardrobes offer generous storage without overwhelming the space.
A palette of warm hues and soft materials creates a restful and cosy atmosphere suited to family living.
Home Office
Responding to the rising need for remote work, a dedicated office area was integrated into the apartment layout.
It functions as a quiet, well-lit zone suitable for both professional work and study.
Bathrooms
Both bathrooms were redesigned with emphasis on clarity of lines and efficient use of space.
- Wall-hung toilets with concealed cisterns for a clean architectural finish
- Glass partitions to maintain openness and natural light
- A combination of dark and earthy tiles paired with wood accents
- A fully integrated laundry zone with space for both washer and dryer
The result is a pair of bathrooms with the refined feel of a boutique hotel, yet fully tailored to the family’s everyday needs.
Energy Upgrade
Thermal insulation was installed on the exterior façade and roof, while the old frames were replaced with aluminium systems in earthy tones.
Existing radiator units were preserved, and air-conditioning units were added to offer greater flexibility in heating and cooling.

The Result
The renovated apartment now conveys clarity, material harmony and a cohesive aesthetic identity.
It offers a comfortable, functional and visually warm environment for every member of the family.
The energy improvements ensure reduced consumption and enhanced year-round comfort.
The project was completed with a home that truly reflects the family’s lifestyle. one that balances quality, warmth and a contemporary architectural approach to everyday living.
