Architectural Design and Construction of a Villa in Heraklion

It is a modern residence with traditional touches to fit into the environment of the settlement of Kavrohori. The plot, 300 square meters, is located in a very nice spot, on an elevated hill with a view of the sea and Heraklion.

Initially we studied the plot and the ground floor house with a swimming pool without a basement, but with the provision of adding a second floor. It is a narrow plot to the north, the entrance is at the back where there is a parking space and also a pedestrian entrance. Access is by ramp, either by car or on foot.

The wooden canopy invites and protects the entrance of the visitor. Entering, we have the main spaces of the building: living room, dining room, kitchen, a very nice modern fireplace in the middle, all having an unlimited view. Throughout the space, the element of stone has been combined with plaster and wood, while the wooden elements, such as the wooden beams on the ceiling of the kitchen, as well as the element of the arch between the two spaces, combine the modern and the traditional. In the back areas, the building has two large bedrooms of 75 sq and the bathrooms. The colours used are white in the bathrooms as well as throughout the house.

Final result

In front, we have the swimming pool and the relaxation areas, the terraces. In the outdoor area, we combined green with water. The design creates a semi-outdoor space in front directly in front of the pool, for passing the daytime with a view of the sea and the pool. The pool is overflowing. At the same time, a green space is created under the pool, a second space, ideal either for exercise or sunbathing. Its utilization is both a short-term rental, but also a residence for the owners, a combination.
